Custom homes built around your land and how you live.
From the first walk-through of your acreage to the final punch list, every NXT Build custom home is run by Collin. Eleven years of post-frame craftsmanship, eastern Iowa specific, and one point of contact from start to finish.
Building a custom home in eastern Iowa is not a generic exercise. The land is different from the next county over. The weather is different from the next state over. The way you use a kitchen at 6 AM before chores is different from how a city family uses one. Every NXT Build custom home starts with that recognition.
We sit down with you on your land. We walk the site. We figure out where the wind comes from, where the morning light hits, where the driveway and the back deck and the kid’s bedroom should go. We ask how you actually live, not how a marketing brochure says you should live. Then we design the home to fit.
From foundation pour to the final walk-through, Collin runs the schedule, runs the crew, and runs the build himself. There is no sales team in between you and the person hammering nails. If something on the build does not match the plan, you hear about it from Collin before it becomes a problem. If something on the plan does not match how you actually want to live, you tell Collin and we adjust before we frame.

Designed for Iowa weather and Iowa land.
Eastern Iowa custom homes have to handle freeze-thaw cycles, sustained wind loads through the open river valleys, summer humidity, and the kind of rain that fills a hayfield in an hour. We design the building envelope for that, not for a generic climate-zone average. That means continuous footings sized for our frost line, proper grade pitch away from the foundation, ice and water shield at every roof eave, and ventilation that keeps the deck dry through January.
We also design for the land. A house on a forty-acre parcel north of Dyersville does not site the same way as a house on a half-acre cul-de-sac in Asbury. We put the great room where it sees the sunrise. We put the garage where it shelters from the wind. We orient the deck where it actually catches an evening breeze in July.
Owner-operated means no handoffs.
Most contractors run a sales team, a project manager, and a crew. The salesperson tells you what you want to hear. The project manager passes the buck. The crew shows up not entirely sure what they are building. At NXT Build, all three of those jobs are Collin. He sells the project because he is going to build it. He runs the schedule because he is on the site every day. He hands you the keys because he framed the roof.
For our customers, the practical effect is that you have one phone number, one email address, and one person who knows everything about your project. Call the number. He picks up. If he is on the site, he calls you back within 24 hours. That is the standard, and it does not change between the first conversation and the move-in date.
