Roofs that survive January and August both.
Standing seam steel, architectural shingles, full tear-offs, storm-damage repairs. Iowa weather destroys cheap roofs. We install the ones that hold up to ice storms, hail, and sustained summer heat without curling, lifting, or leaking at the eaves.
Roofing is the most-skipped part of a quality home, and the most expensive thing to get wrong. A cheap roof saves a homeowner a few thousand dollars at install and costs them ten thousand dollars when it has to come off in eight years. Every NXT Build roof is sized to last between twenty and fifty years depending on the material, with proper underlayment, proper ventilation, and proper flashing details.
For most residential customers in our service area, we install architectural asphalt shingles rated for 30 to 50 years. They are the right balance of cost, weather resistance, and curb appeal for an eastern Iowa custom home.
For barndominiums, ag buildings, and any project where the roof is going to be highly visible and high-performance, we install standing seam steel. The panels run continuously from eave to ridge with no fasteners through the weather plane, and the seams stand up to 40 years of Iowa freeze-thaw without failing.

Why Iowa is hard on roofs.
Eastern Iowa roofs handle three failure stresses that cheap installs cannot survive. Freeze-thaw cycles from October through April, often dozens per winter, pull cheap shingles loose at the corners. Wind events from open river valleys lift shingles that were not nailed to the spec pattern. And ice damming at the eaves backs water under the bottom course on any roof that does not have proper ice and water shield.
Every NXT Build roof gets the right underlayment, the right nail pattern, the right ice and water shield length up the slope, and the right ventilation at the ridge. None of those costs much extra. All of them are the difference between a roof that lasts 30 years and one that fails at 12.
